About the Journal

Javano-Islamicus is an international journal biannually published in June and December. It publishes articles on Islam and the identity, ethnicity and culture of Javanese society in the scope of sociology, anthropology, philosophy, history, politics, and the arts.

The journal is published by the Postgraduate Studies of UIN Sunan Ampel Surabaya in June 2022 as the only one, both in the national and international context, specializing in Javanese Islam.

The journal warmly welcomes contributions from scholars of related disciplines. Articles should be original and unpublished and not under review for possible publication in other journals. All submitted papers are subject to review by the editors, editorial board, and blind reviewers. Submissions that violate our guidelines on formatting or length will be rejected without review.
